BJA: Project 2001

Recognizing the need for the courts to speak with one voice and provide effective leadership to the judiciary, the Supreme Court adopted a revised rule reestablishing the Board for Judicial Administration (BJA) to adopt policies and speak for the judiciary. An essential component of the revised court rule, is the implementation of an ongoing planning process for the judiciary embodied in a standing Long-Range Planning Committee. As part of its implementation efforts, the BJA has established "Project 2001" to initiate the judicial planning process and report back to the BJA by the fall of 2000. Specifically "Project 2001" will:

  1. Review problems identified in recent studies, proposed legislation and surveys;
  2. Validate and rank problems based upon sound research; and
  3. Recommend solutions and, where possible, draft implementing authority (e.g., Constitutional amendment, statute, court rule, etc.) including referral to the BJA Long-Range Planning Committee.
