LOCAL COURT RULE NO. 1 A Defendant charged with a criminal offense punishable by a loss of freedom shall be scheduled for a jury trial unless specifically waived by filing a written waiver of jury trial. A waiver of trial by jury must be in writing. A notice of intent to change plea and notice of intent to amend citation/complaint may be done orally to the clerk. A notice of intent to plea to a lesser charge, and notice of intent to amend shall be effective any time prior to the Friday preceding the trial date. Thereafter, no amendment to the citation/complaint shall be permitted except as provided below. A waiver of jury trial shall be effective at any time prior to 2 days before the trial date. An amendment to the citation/complaint, waiver of jury trial and a change of plea to a lesser charge may be allowed upon a showing of exigent circumstances and the payment of terms in the amount of $180.00. A Defendant may plead guilty to the charge originally alleged at any time.
