Notes

How you download any document from the Washington State Courts Internet site is dependent on the type of browser you are using. Because most of the downloadable documents available on the Washington State Courts Internet site are in Word format, the manner in which the browser attempts to handle a Word document is important.

Browsers such as Netscape and Internet Explorer behave differently when they encounter a link to a downloadable file. Additionally, the various versions of each of the browsers also behave differently.

For instance, versions 4.0 and 5.0 of Internet Explorer will attempt to open a Word document in their own viewer. With the older versions of Internet Explorer and with Netscape, it is necessary to have Word or a Word Viewer installed in order to open the Word documents.

To further complicate the issue, some versions of Word 2000 require a plug in. While this plug in may be available on the Word 2000 install disk, if it is not installed you will get "blank page" if you try to just click on the link.
