Superior Court Statistical Reporting Manual

MANDATORY ARBITRATION REPORTING

To better account for the workload of each superior court, it is necessary to determine the number and type of cases diverted from the court into mandatory arbitration. Participation in mandatory arbitration can occur for a civil, domestic, or probate matter only if the following criteria are met.

(1) The action is at issue in a superior court in a county which has authorized mandatory arbitration.

(2) The sole relief sought is a monetary judgment.

(3) The amount does not exceed the monetary limit set in the mandatory arbitration rules.

Arbitration statistics to be included with court caseload data are limited to only those cases settled by arbitration (see Cases Resolved for civil, domestic, and probate case types).
