The Public Information Office of the Administrative Office of the Courts is the central communications office for media and public inquiries and requests concerning Washington’s judicial branch of government.

In its community relations role, the Public Information Office partners in the annual YMCA Youth and Government Mock Trial Championships, and publishes documents such as the A Guide to Washington State Courts; What’s Happening in Washington Courts (Children’s activity book); the Washington State Media Guide; Presiding Judge Outreach Toolkit; and an online daily clipping service on current events in Washington Courts.

In its media relations role, the Public Information Office offers assistance, guidance, and support to judges and court personnel in responding to the media, to assist with media interviews, and to promote specific court programs or activities. The Office provides the media with public information about court cases and schedules, procedures, policies, press releases and background information for editorials.

The Public Information Office also staffs the Washington State Bench-Bar-Press Committee, the Board for Judicial Administration’s Public Trust and Confidence Committee.
