Washington Supreme Court Chief Justice Barbara Madsen will deliver the 2011 State of the Judiciary Address before a joint session of the Washington State Legislature on Wednesday, January 12th at 11:30 a.m. Detailing the state of Washington’s trial courts, public defense and civil legal services, the Chief Justice will also discuss how the current fiscal crisis is impacting access to justice.
Madsen became the third woman to serve on the state’s highest court when she was elected in 1992. On January 11, 2010, she was sworn in as the Court’s 55th Chief Justice, making her the second woman to preside over Washington’s judicial branch.
The address will be carried live via TVW, Washington’s Public Affairs Network.
