Court of Appeals Division Two to Hear Arguments in Local Cases at St. Martin's University

The Court of Appeals Division Two will hear oral arguments outside of their Tacoma courtroom during a community visit to St. Martin’s University in Lacey on March 19 and 22, 2007. The public is invited to attend.

 

Commencing at 9 a.m. on March 19 and 8 a.m. on March 22, Court of Appeals Judges David Armstrong, J. Robin Hunt and Joel Penoyar will hear oral arguments in the following local cases:

Each argument will last approximately 40 minutes. On Monday, March 19, judges will recess after the first four cases of the day to meet with students over lunch, reconvening at 1:30 p.m. to hear the last oral argument of the day. On Thursday, March 22, judges will recess after the first five oral arguments to meet with students over lunch, reconvening at 1:30 p.m. to hear the last oral argument of the day. Throughout the day, the court will try to provide opportunities for students to ask questions between cases as time permits.

 

Division Two of the Washington State Court of Appeals has made community visits throughout its geographic area since 1993, most recently hearing cases at Fort Vancouver High School.   

 

The Court hears appeals from trial courts throughout Western Washington, Pierce County south to the Oregon border and the Olympic Peninsula, and has the authority to overrule, remand, modify or affirm decisions of the trial courts.
