Question

May a judicial officer serve on the State Bar Association's Legal Aid Committee?

Answer

CJC Canon 4 allows a judicial officer to serve on the State Bar Association's Legal Aid Committee as that Committee is devoted to the law, the legal system and the improvement of justice.

The Supreme Court adopted a new Code of Judicial Conduct effective January 1, 2011. In addition to reviewing the ethics advisory opinions, the following should be noted: CJC 3.1 CJC 3.7
