| Abstract: |
The book is a personal account of getto life in the '50s. However, it appropriately illustrates the street culture that currently exist today--social behavior in a culture of violence. He shows that most kids live in a state of constant fear of violence in the getto; however, he also paints a gruesome protrait that most kids partake in the violence and the rituals surrounding it for fear of worse violence and a life of cowering. |

This is a fabulous book and I highly recommend it. If you have ever wondered about the thought process of inner city youth and violence, this is the book. |
