IN RE THE MATTER OF COURT ADMINISTRATION:

APPELLATE ELECTRONIC COURT RECORDS

 

GENERAL ORDER

FOR THE COURT OF APPEALS

 

 

WHEREAS the Washington State Legislature approved funding for the Judicial Information Systems Committee (JISC) ITG 252 – Appellate Electronic Court Records for the 2019 – 2021 biennium, and,

WHEREAS the Court of Appeals is interested in encouraging an efficient, timely, consistent method to file pleadings with the court,

WHEREAS the court provides an electronic Internet e-filing portal for case participants at no cost to the user,

AND WHEREAS a high percentage of counsel of record currently utilize the Court of Appeals electronic filing portal,

IT IS HEREBY ORDERED:

Effective August 1, 2020 and pursuant to the intent of GR 30(b)(4), electronic filing through the Court of Appeals’ e-filing Internet portal is mandatory for any case participant who is admitted to practice law in the State of Washington, and,

Effective August 1, 2020 the Appellate Electronic Court Record is hereby designated as the official court record of the Court of Appeals and no hard copy paper case files will be created or maintained GR 30(d)(3).
