Juvenile Probation Reporting and Evidence Based Treatment Programs (EBPs)

In accordance with RCW13.06.020, the state appropriates funding to local county juvenile courts each two year budget cycle for community supervision to reduce reliance on state operated correctional institutions and assists the application of disposition (sentencing) programs. There are now six Evidence-Based Programs offered through juvenile probation in the State of Washington.

  1. Washington State Aggression Replacement Training (WSART) Program
  2. Functional Family Therapy (FFT) Program
  3. Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) Program
  4. Family Integrated Transitions (FIT) Program
  5. Coordination of Services (COS) Program
  6. Education and Employment Training (EET) Program
WSCCR's Role in the Analysis of Evidence-Based Programs:

This project contributes to the performance management of juvenile probation. Various data analyses are regularly completed in an effort to test program effectiveness and inform future program design for youth who are:

  1. Engaged in Evidence Based Programs, and
  2. Sentenced to probation supervision through the Washington State Courts.

One product of the data analyses is the annual Legislative Juvenile Court Block Grant Report. Other deliverables are more operational in nature, and focus upon Evidence-Based Program outcomes at the county level.

A key component of this effort is to calculate recidivism rates for youth on probation, with a separate analysis for youth who have a) started and b) completed an Evidence-Based Program through juvenile probation. Each of these tasks contribute to the overall intent to improve the understanding of Evidence-Based Program outcomes and better inform the courts, program coordinators, and the legislature.
