Impact if not Resolved: |
High |
Impact Description: |
Not providing this functionality will severely impede SRL access to their documents and case information and will continue to result in an under representation of this demographic.
Not implementing the ability to provide SRL access, will significantly impact a long standing request from the Access To Justice (ATJ) group.
|
|
|
What is the Business Problem or Opportunity |
This business opportunity would provide access to an underserved demographic, providing them the ability to better represent themselves within Washington Courts. By allowing special “attorney-like” access to Washington case management systems, Self-Represented Litigants (SRL) would have access to case documents and information that is related to cases in which they are representing themselves.
- To be effective Litigants must:
- be able to file and access court records statewide,
- be uniquely identified,
- have appropriate security privileges/access on a by-case basis,
- have access to all appropriate documents and data, and
- be able to file and access court records statewide.
- Litigant access could be similar to the Portal JISLink Level-01 role
|
Expected Benefit: |
Self-Represented Litigants will have access to their case records and will have the ability to effectively represent themselves.
|
Any Additional Information: |
Attached is a document created from a SC-CUWG endorsed work group. This document is Odyssey and Portal centric and does not meet the need for this particular request. However, it does provide information that captures the need for this request and some workflows that could be adopted.
The need to identify the SRLs individually was identified, a database will need to be created to hold this information. This database will need an oversite to track and maintain SRL numbers for statewide use. The work load was identified but the responsible party or parties was not decided upon.
