Original Title: JCS Screen Modernization
Request Type: Change or Enhancement
Which Systems are affected? Juvenile and Corrections System (JCS)
Business Area: Internal Maintenance
Communities Impacted: Superior Court Administrators
Juvenile Court Administrators
State Agencies
Public and Other Users
Impact if not Resolved: Medium
Impact Description:

The system will be non-functional when SCOMIS is depricated. Until then, supporting the existing platform and programming language becomes more difficult resulting in degraded operations. Additionally, risk of supporting the system becomes more difficult as there are fewer developers who know XPA.

What is the Business Problem or Opportunity

This project will meet the following objectives:

  • Migrate the existing UI to the ASP.NET core platform and converting Magic XPA and JAVA code logic to C# code logic. Eliminate the need to?support software?for JCS that is?in various languages using different frameworks.

  • Streamline code base by removing dead code and inefficient designs.?

  • Migrate away?from?software?(Magic XPA)?that has been identified as a security risk?due to the use of JAVA7.

  • Update training materials.

Expected Benefit:

This work is important in order to reduce the complexity of the JCS infrastructure and code logic and thus to simplify how AOC supports JCS by updating the code base to a modern, standard, and accessible language while improving the extensibility of the system.

Further, this improves the ability of ISD staff to support JCS work as a greater number of developers will be fluent in the same language (C#), furthers the ability to source and update from the Enterprise Data Repository (EDR), and helps migrate away from SCOMIS.

Summary of Proposed Solution

The project migrates the existing user interface (UI) to the ASP.NET core platform and converting Magic XPA and JAVA code logic to C# code logic. This code change will not significantly alter the appearance or the functionality of the JCS case management system.
