Request Summary: |
The judicial branch requires the ability to obtain Judgment and Sentence (J&S) information from JIS in an automated and electronic format. Currently J&S is entered in JIS following the creation and signing thereof, but in a relatively non-uniform free text format. This inhibits conformity to detail, coding, and formatting. |
Business Impacts: |
• Reduction in redundant data entry and data dissemination
• Streamline and conformity of business processes performed across the agencies.
• Reduction of data entry for all parties.
• Produce accurate and uniform Judgment and Sentence documents.
• Support real-time data management in court hearings.
• Provide uniform, high quality data for analysis and for the purposes of court use |
Summary of Proposed Solution |
Judgment and Sentence (J&S) requirements will be included as part of the Superior Court Case Management System (SC CMS) project. |
Proposed Solution |
J&S is an integral component of any court case and is included in most case management systems. Therefore this recommendation has been approved as part of the SC-CMS project which is currently in the requirements gathering and analysis phase. Much of the J&S analysis work is already being addressed by the SC-CMS project so this recommendation does not suggest a significant amount of work over and above what is already being done. To make this determination we coordinated with the lead Business Analyst for the SC-CMS project, Tom Sampson, and organized a series of three meetings with the requestor of ITG 55, AOC Court Research Center Manager Carl McCurley. These meetings identified that many of the J&S requirements have already been included in the SC-CMS project. The SC-CMS project manager, Kate Kruller, has also already accepted that J&S analysis and requirements will be officially included as part of the project. |
