RETAIN REASON CODES

Effective 10/5/2015: These reason codes are used on the Case Disposition (CSD) screen whenever a judge has authorized the permanent retention of a non-civil case.

Defendant Criminal History

Nature of the current crime

03

The case involves any mental health issues

04

The case involves any substance abuse issues

05

The defendant has a high risk of repetitive contact with the court system

06

The alleged crime was sexual in nature

07

The defendant has a history of repetitive contact, or has the potential of repetitive contact with alleged victim

08

Domestic Violence was involved

If the Permanently Retain Case flag is changed to Y, one or more Reason Codes must be entered AND a docket entry must be entered on the CSD screen. See the Destruction of Records manual page for more information.
