Division I Court of Appeals Judges Appoint Newest Commissioner

Division I Court of Appeals judges have appointed staff attorney Paris Kallas to a court commissioner position. She replaces Mary Ellen Hudgins who left the court in July.

A 1981 University of Puget Sound Law School graduate, Kallas has been a staff attorney for the court since 1992. She has also served as a Seattle District Court pro tem judge, private practice attorney, and attorney for the Washington Appellate Defender Association. She has handled hundreds of appeals, including ten in the Washington Supreme Court.

As a court of appeals commissioner, Kallas will hear and decide motions, screen appeals and recommend cases for published or unpublished opinions. Her appointment was effective October 1.
