JUDGE C. KIMI KONDO:
SEATTLE MUNICIPAL COURT

Celebrating the Courts in an Inclusive Society

Judge C. Kimi Kondo was appointed to the Seattle Municipal Court bench in 1990 as the first Asian American female judge in the State of Washington. Since then, she has handled every calendar on the State's busiest court and is currently assigned a jury courtroom. Prior to her career on the bench, Judge Kondo was the sole proprietor of a busy general law practice and became interested in the judiciary while serving regularly as a traffic magistrate judge pro tempore.

During her tenure, Judge Kondo has served on various court committees and was elected Presiding Judge in 1995 and 1996. She is currently the court's probation judge, spearheaded the recent Court Administrator Search Committee and is a member of the Washington State Gender and Justice Commission. Judge Kondo is married to Jackie L. Rabb, a Local 32 pipefitter, and they have two teenage sons, James 17, and Fred, 15.

"Balancing my roles as a judge, community leader, spouse and mother is a constant challenge, but I am honored to have the support of the people of Seattle as I strive to ensure access to justice to those who come in contact with the court," says Judge Kondo.
