General Orders of Division II

1998-3 Rescinding General Order 85-1 and Suspending RAP 5.5

      In General Order 82-1, this court suspended the requirements of RAP 5.5, pertaining to civil appeals statements, because we had decided to eliminate settlement conferences. In General Order 85-1, to assist in the screening process at this court, we ordered the resumption of the practice of filing a civil appeals statement and response thereto. Inasmuch as civil appeals statements are no longer used for screening appeals, this court has determined to withdraw General Order 85-1, leaving General Order 82-1 fully in effect. Accordingly, it is hereby

     ORDERED that General Order 85-1 is withdrawn. It is further

      ORDERED that, as previously ordered in No. 82-1, parties to civil appeals in this court no longer need file either civil appeals statements or responses thereto. This suspension of RAP 5.5 shall continue until further order of this court.
