GENERAL ORDER 2011-3

IN RE APPRECIATION OF JUDGE HARDYN B. SOULE

            WHEREAS, Hardyn B. Soule, a distinguished judge of this court from January 1978 until his retirement in December 1979, a longtime former judge for the Pierce County Superior Court and a devoted player of the bagpipes, passed away on November 25, 2010; and

            WHEREAS, we, the members of the Court of Appeals, together with its commissioners, clerk, staff attorneys and other staff, desire to give permanent expression of the respect, affection and esteem in which we held Judge Soule;

            NOW, THEREFORE, be it ORDERED

            THAT this ORDER shall memorialize the commitment to excellence and high standards of judicial craftsmanship that guided Judge Soule; his remarkable devotion to both the legal profession and his family; the esteem and affection of his many friends; and the scrupulous application of fairness and justice that characterized his service on the bench;

            THAT the death of Judge Soule has caused an irreplaceable loss to us personally and to the State of Washington;

            THAT we mourn his loss and extend and express our deepest sympathies to all members of his family; and

            THAT this ORDER shall be made a part of the permanent records of this Court.
