Guardian ad Litem (GAL) and Court Visitor

Grievance Procedures

If a party has a complaint about a guardian ad litem (GAL) or court visitor, the party may file a grievance in superior court.  Generally, if the case is still active, the party may file a motion to bring the grievance to the court's attention.  If the case has been completed, the written grievance is addressed to the GAL/Court Visitor Program Manager or Superior Court Administrator.  Often it is a good idea to discuss concerns with the GAL/Court Visitor as they arise, before they become difficult to resolve.  Attorneys can provide advice regarding a GAL's or court visitor’s involvement and whether a grievance is appropriate.   Click here for ways to find legal assistance.
