I. Minutes
The minutes of the July 12, 2002 meeting were approved as written.
II. New Business
King County Office of Citizen Complaints Ombudsman Request
The subcommittee discussed the King County Office of Citizen Complaints Ombudsman request for a waiver of JIS Link fees. The group agreed that there is no problem with giving them access but they do not have the authority to waive the JIS Link fee in this situation. If the requestor is doing the business of the local courts the local courts might be able to help them.
Family Relations link in dependency cases when parental rights have been terminated.
Ms. Kuriyama reported that the clerk’s concerns have been resolved and the JCI committee has agreed upon a business practice for entry of this information into JIS.
JIS Information in County Websites
Mr. Backus presented an overview of the issues. Questions and concerns regarding the impact on JIS Link revenue were raised. Judge Grosse commented that the business model for funding of JIS is changing. The group discussed alternative funding mechanisms such as raising the filing fee or charging per search. Ms. Woods suggested that Chelan County pilot a document fee splitting approach and work with AOC to determine impact. The subcommittee agreed to this approach.
III. Old Business
Comprehensive Public Access Court Rule
Judge Grosse reported that he does not have the new draft version completed.
