Lakewood Municipal CourtLMCLR CR 7.6 PROBATION DEPARTMENT SERVICES AND PROCEDURE The role of the Municipal Court Probation Department is to assist the court in the management of criminal justice and thereby aid in the preservation of public order and safety. Pursuant to ARLJ 11, the Probation Officer shall perform the following duties and follow the following procedures: 1) Conduct pre/post-sentence investigations with face to face interviews and extensive research that may include but is not limited to: criminal history, contact with victims, personal history, social and economic needs, community resource needs, counseling/treatment needs, work history, family and employer support, and complete written pre/post-sentence reports which include sentencing recommendations to the court. 2) Probation Officer shall communicate with community agencies providing services required of offenders with input to the judicial officer regarding the following areas: alcohol/drug, domestic violence, sexual deviancy, and mental illness. 3) In addition to the duties mentioned above, the Probation Officer is also required to perform records checks on active probation clients, notify the court of violations or special circumstances through written reports and direct communication with court personnel, attend calendar proceedings as needed, and participate in accounting of fees.
