Question
     May a judge, during a judicial election, express an opinion on
abortion?

Answer
     The Code of Judicial Conduct Canon 7(B)(1)(c) states that candidates,
including an incumbent judge, are not permitted to announce their views on
disputed legal or political issues.  Therefore, it would not be appropriate
for a judge to express an opinion on abortion during a judicial campaign.
