What is the Business Problem or Opportunity

The Supreme Court would like to have a new website built so that their customers (public, justice partners, law students, attorneys, media, etc.) has an easy way to find and view Supreme Court case related documents (opinions, briefs, etc.) and resources (oral argument recording on TVW for example) in one place. Today, those customers are required to go to different locations on the www.courts.wa.gov website in order to find case documents and resources. For example, if they want to look for an Opinion, they must navigate to https://www.courts.wa.gov/opinions/ and then search for an Opinion in order to view. If the customer wants to view a brief, they must navigate to https://www.courts.wa.gov/appellate_trial_courts/coaBriefs/index.cfm?fa=coaBriefs.ScHome&courtId=A08 and search for a brief in order to view.

Expected Benefit:

Supreme Court customers will be able to go to the new page, enter a Supreme Court case number and the page will then display the documents and resources available to them in one location. This will make it easier for the customers as it will save them time to find case documents and resources and will not require them to look around for case documents and resources. It will also decrease the calls for assistance to the Supreme Court and/or AOC when customer are having difficulty locating case documents and resources.

Court staff will also benefit as they will have the ability to easily access the case documents and resources without having to use OnBase and VPN to look for these documents and resources.

Any Additional Information:

Request Summary:

The Supreme Court needs a new website built so that their customers (public, justice partners, law students, attorneys, media, etc.) have an easy one-stop site to view Supreme Court case related documents and resources such as oral argument recordings from TVW. Currently, customers are required to go to different locations on the www.courts.wa.gov website in order to find case documents and resources. It can be difficult to locate items such as Briefs and Opinions from the same case. This can be challenging for many users.

Business Impacts:

Supreme Court customers will be able to go to the new page, enter a Supreme Court case number, and the page will then display the documents and resources available to them in one location. This will create an efficient way for customers to search for these items. It will also decrease the calls for assistance to the Supreme Court and/or AOC when customers are having difficulty locating case documents and resources.

Court staff will also benefit as they will have the ability to easily access case documents and resources without having to use OnBase or needing to log into the AOC's Virtual Private Network (VPN).
