Business Area: Case/Referral Filing and Maintenance
Communities Impacted: AOC
County Clerks
Impact if not Resolved: Medium
Impact Description:

Court users are unable to remove an erroneously entered last non required party connection from the case.

What is the Business Problem or Opportunity

Issue/Background

Current JIS rule prohibits removal of the last non-required party on all case types and does not allow for connection code changes. Court users need the JIS rule modified to allow removal of last non-required party connection when appropriate.

Example: CPO - Civil Protection Order initiated in Odyssey with a child being entered as a MNR - minor. Later the user needs to change the MNR to FMH - family household member. The user then unlinks the MNR in Odyssey. JIS returns error, "Must have at least one MNR on this case DC1001SX : DC000MU." However, MNR is not a required participant/connection for this case type since a CPO can be initiated with just a PET and RSP.

Proposed Resolution

Modify case types to allow removal of last non required party connections.

Impact of Proposed Resolution

None Known

Expected Benefit:

Users would be able to efficiently process the requisite case management tasks without being blocked by an error message. This well lessen data quality issues since the users will be able to correct erroneously entered parties. To include removal of last non required party connection when deemed incorrect.

This will avoid replication errors that are time consuming for AOC to correct. Without these errors data quality will be enhanced overall.

Summary of Proposed Solution

The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) would develop the ability for court users to modify case participants of non-required parties in all case types. Currently, JIS functionality does not allow this.

Proposed Solution

AOC proposes modification of current SCOMIS rules to allow removal of the last non-required party connections when that party type is not a required party in all case types.
