Impact Description:

There is no ability to track these matter as required by law and the cases do not print on the calendars.

What is the Business Problem or Opportunity

The creation of the Title 11 cause codes will help the clerk identify and monitor cases under 11.96A and 11.92 which require specific tracking. TEDRA cases are proceedings that may be filed for any dispute in an estate, guardianship or trust matter. These disputes are conincidental to the underlying action but by the nature of the litigation, multiple claims against parties necessitate different notice requirements for the Clerk. Order directing parties to the file TRUST cases separately from a guardianship or probate cases have proliferated the number of cases filed under MISCELLANEOUS. Statute requires that annual accountings filed in the case and tracking of that requirement begs for specific cause of action. Also because of the need for this cause code, TEDRA cases do not print on our calendars which can be the cause for confusion by the judicial officer, and the public expecting a hearing.

Expected Benefit:

Provide necessary cause code that provide for the tracking of these matters as required by law. Also will provide the necessary adjustment so when these matters are scheduled for court - they will print on the calendars in SCOMIS used by the County Clerks and Judges.

Summary of Proposed Solution

In April of 2007 the operations group created two new codes that had been approved by the Codes Committee: TDR (Trust/Estate Dispute Resolution) and TRS (Trust). This original work effort did not include any functional changes to SCOMIS.

The December 20th, 2011 release of SCOMIS made programmatic changes related to these codes. The release enhanced Prepare Calendar so that it displays Petitioner and Respondent names for Probation/Guardianship cases with TDR or TRS cause codes. The calendars for other Probation/Guardianship cases did not change. (This was RightNow Incident 090102-000013 originated by Linda Enlow at the Thurston County Superior Court.)

These two changes fulfilled this request. This request is being returned to the WSACC to record how the request was fulfilled. WSACC may "Decline" the request in order to close the request in the system.
