JIS-Link Code Manual[Return to Codes TOC]Jurisdiction CodesA jurisdiction in JIS is a county, city or town for which the court provides services. A jurisdiction's Official/Organization record is created and maintained by AOC. Each jurisdiction has a three character code. Using the Organization Association screen (ORA), a court is linked or associated to it's jurisdictions. Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) are linked or associated to the jurisdiction(s) for which they write tickets. See the JIS Online Manual, Organization Associations topic for step-by-step procedures on creating or modifying jurisdictional associations. Search for a jurisdiction code using the Official/Organization Duplicate (OOD) command with the name of the jurisdiction and the name type code JR. Remember that names of cities begin with "City of" or "Town of" and counties begin with "County of". To view the court's associated jurisdictions, use the ORA command with the court name code in the navigation line. A court name code consists of the name type CT and the 3 character court ID. For example, Grandview Municipal Court is CT GRM. See the Court ID section of the Codes Manual for a complete list of Court IDs. Courts can request a Jurisdiction/LEA Association Report from AOC Customer Services. All the court's jurisdictions and their associated LEA's are listed. See the JIS Online Manual, Miscellaneous Reports - Jurisdiction/LEA Association Report topic for information and a sample of this report. |
