US and Canadian State Codes
This listing contains the US postal codes for US states, US territories/associations, and Canadian provinces. The listing is sorted alphabetically by state/province name.
The State code is a required part of a person's mailing or residence address in JIS. The State code is a required part of the address for an official or organization in JIS on the Official/Organization (OFOA/OFO) screen.
• When recording a US or Canadian address, use the appropriate State code in the ST (state) field and US or CA in the CY (country) field.
• When recording an address for a country other than the US or Canada, use ZZ (unknown) in the ST (state) field and use the appropriate Country code in the CY(country) field.
• When recording a driver license issuing state in a country other than the US or Canada, use ZZ (unknown) in the ST field. There is no country code directly associated with a driver's license.
