On the DISPLAY and CHANGE STATUS screens any of the following active statuses displays as ACT in the Code field. A blank status may display for cases filed prior to 08/31/1992. For these cases, a blank status is treated as active.

Note:
On the CHANGE STATUS screen, any suspended status code can be manually inserted, updated, or deleted.

These codes display in the Status field on the BASIC, DOCKET, and DISPLAY/CHANGE STATUS screens. Use the Change Status screen to insert, update, or delete status history items. Refer to the SCOMIS Manual, Case Management Status/History section for more information.

Usage Notes

Case management status is derived from entry of specific Docket Codes and Proceeding Docket Codes on the Docket screen or from status history manually entered on the Change Status screen. Case status is used to compute time in process for each case and to determine if the case meets time standards.

If a "begin" code is entered, the case management status automatically changes on the Basic and Docket screens from active/blank or completed to one of the "suspended" statuses. The case remains in a "suspended" status until an appropriate "return" code is entered. When "begin" codes are entered with no intervening "return" code, the case management status does not change.

The current case management status displays on the Basic and Docket screens in the Status field as illustrated below.
