- A judicial candidate may doorbell and attend public
gatherings and ask people to vote for the judicial candidate because
those are different from soliciting public statements of support.
- A candidate may personally call a newspaper to
set up a meeting with its editorial board and meet with the editorial
board on his or her own behalf or that of another judicial candidate.

Canon 7(B)(1)(c) provides in part that judicial candidates
should not make pledges or promises of conduct in office other
than the faithful and impartial performance of the duties of the
office or make statements that commit or appear to commit the
candidate with respect to cases, controversies or issues that
are likely to come before the court.
- During a judicial campaign, candidates for judicial
office may attend political gatherings. CJC
