Washington Courts unveil automated system to 'Find Your Court Date'

The Washington State Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) recently unveiled a newly-automated program to find appearance dates for cases in Washington’s district and municipal courts.

Located on the Washington Courts website at www.courts.wa.gov/calendars, “Find Your Court Date” allows the public to locate future proceeding dates by either entering a valid name or case number.  

Attorneys may also find information relating to multiple cases, by entering their valid Washington State Bar Association membership number.

“This new program provides a valuable service to the citizens of Washington State by increasing the accessibility of information relating to court dates,” said Okanogan County District Court Judge Christopher Culp who serves as President of the District and Municipal Court Judges’ Association. 

While information is currently available only for courts of limited jurisdiction, the AOC hopes to expand the service to include dates for superior courts in the near future.

Data for Seattle Municipal Court is the only limited jurisdiction court not represented on the “Find Your Court Date” system. 

The new program utilizes information from the Judicial Information System (JIS), which provides case management automation to courts in Washington State.  It includes systems for appellate, superior, limited jurisdiction and juvenile courts.

Given that court proceedings may be rescheduled at any time, users are encouraged to call their local court the morning of their appearance.  An automated court directory is also available online via the Washington Courts website, combined with a “Courthouse Locator” which provides maps and directions to every courthouse throughout Washington State.
