Supreme Court Chief Justice Barbara A. Madsen to Deliver State of the Judiciary Address January 23rd

OLYMPIA, WA -- Chief Justice Barbara A. Madsen will deliver the 2013 State of the Judiciary Address before a joint session of the Washington State Legislature on Wednesday, January 23rd at 11:30 a.m. in the Washington State Senate Chambers.

Detailing the state of Washington’s appellate and trial courts, the Chief Justice will also discuss access to justice and security issues facing courthouses throughout Washington State.
 
Madsen became the third woman to serve on the state’s highest court when she was elected in 1992.  
 
In 2010, she was sworn in as the Court’s 55th Chief Justice, making her the second woman to preside over Washington’s judicial branch.   She was re-elected unanimously by her peers last year to serve an additional term until 2016.   For further biography information, please visit www.courts.wa.gov
