Skagit Valley Superior Court Administrator Chosen as Court Manager of the Year

Skagit Valley Superior Court Administrator Delilah George has been named the 2013 Court Manager of the Year by the Washington State Court Management Council. The Court Manager of the Year Award is presented to a manager or administrator who demonstrates leadership on a regional or statewide basis that is beyond what is expected of an individual court manager.

 

“Through her actions, she has embodied the notion that court services are intended for our citizens, and should therefore be accessible and navigable by our citizens,” wrote Kitsap County Superior Court Administrator Frank Maiocco in a letter nominating George for the award.

 

Maiocco pointed to George’s extensive involvement in development of a modernized and more efficient case management system for all superior courts in Washington — the Superior Court Case Management System project underway from the Administrative Office of the Courts — as an example of her leadership and her efforts to help the courts function better. George, who joined the Skagit County Superior Court in 2004, also created a mentorship program for new superior court administrators in Washington, and spearheaded a comprehensive update of the Superior Court Administrator’s Desk Reference Manual in a more accessible electronic format.

 

“Delilah has a positive, day-to-day impact on innovating court operations, improving staff morale, establishing and sustaining effective relationships with other county and court leaders, and on promoting a user-friendly court experience for her community,” Maiocco wrote. “She has continued to exemplify those guiding leadership principles that characterize an exceptional court administrator.”

 

The Court Management Council is a statewide forum in which court officials work to enhance the administration of courts.
