New Look for the Washington Courts Website

The Administrative Office of the Courts will debute a new look for the public website for Washington Courts at www.courts.wa.gov on March 1, 2014.

While all of content on the website remains the same, options for how users find information is now expanded.  Please note that any hyperlinks or bookmarks that you currently have to content on the site will continue to work as normal.
 
In addition to the new design, some of the main changes include: 
  • Added top level/global navigation to the front page, which also remains consistent throughout the site.  This top-level navigation is made up of the most used sections of the site – and targets the site’s “power users”.  
  • The “Search Case Records” function is moved to a more prominent location. Current search terms of the site indicate that users have difficulty finding where on the site to search for case info or cases by names.
  • A new "How do I..." section of links provide a "tasked based" navigation.  Trends and usability experts suggest providing this type of guidance to users new to the site.
  • And finally, placement of search field in header promotes the use of searching as a navigation tool.  As an ongoing task, suggested links based on key words are defined, to help provide better, or more refined search results.
