At a recent spring conference held in Richland, The District and Municipal Court Judges Association (DMCJA) elected Spokane County District Court Judge Christine Cary and three others to represent the association's 215 judges on the state's Board for Judicial Administration (BJA). Cary will join Kitsap County District Court Judge James M. Riehl, Bainbridge Island Municipal Court Judge Stephen J. Holman, and Kent Municipal Court Judge Robert McSeveney to represent the association. Charged with the adoption of policies and providing leadership for the administration of justice in Washington courts, the BJA meets on a bimonthly basis to take positions on legislative and administrative matters. Cary will serve on the board for a two-year term. The DMCJA is created by state statute and provides its members with continuing judicial education, recommends changes to civil and criminal court rules, and promotes improvement in judicial administration.
