Court of Appeals Division Two to hear arguments in cases at Fort Vancouver High School this week

The Court of Appeals Division Two will hear oral arguments outside their courtroom in Tacoma during a community visit to Fort Vancouver High School on November 30 and December 1, 2006.  The public is invited to attend.

 

Commencing at 8 a.m., Court of Appeals Judges C.C. Bridgewater, Christine Quinn-Brintnall, and Joel Penoyer will hear oral arguments in the following cases.

 

Thursday, November 30, 2006:

No. 33815 & 339331, State v. Run and Luyster

No. 340313, State v. Mihalache

No. 345198, Bogdanov v. King 

No. 342910, State v. Anderson

No. 341476, State v. Carney

No. 342502, State v. Trickett

 

Friday, December 1, 2006:

No. 34697-9, State v. Siclovan

No. 33700-2, State v. Guillen

No. 34280-4, State v. Ziegler

No. 34125-5, State v. Gamble

No. 34127-1, Johnson v. Johnson

 

Each argument will last approximately 40 minutes.  Judges will recess after the first five cases of the day to conference on the cases, reconvening at 12:30 p.m. to hear the last case of the day. Throughout the day, the court will try to provide opportunities for students to ask questions between cases as time permits.

 

Division Two of the Washington State Court of Appeals has made community visits throughout its geographic area since 1993, most recently hearing cases at Peninsula College 

 

The court hears appeals from trial courts throughout Western Washington, Pierce County south to the Oregon border and the Olympic Peninsula, and has the authority to overrule, remand, or modify or affirm decisions of the lower courts.
