Washington Courts: Press Release DetailComments sought on draft courthouse security standardsJanuary 23, 1996
Should everyone be forced to submit to airport-style security screening before entering a courthouse? Thursday, Jan. 25th, Thurston county residents will have a say on the issue, when twelve proposed courthouse security standards are presented for public comment. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the West Coast Tyee Hotel, 500 Tyee Drive S.W., Tumwater. A 17-member Courthouse Security Task Force developed the standards after being formed earlier this year to review the issues surrounding courthouse security following the shooting deaths of three women in the King County Courthouse last March. The group is chaired by Jeff Sullivan, Yakima County Prosecutor. Copies of the draft standards can be obtained by contacting Wendy Killian at (360) 705-5331. On-site contact: Jeffrey Sullivan, Yakima County Prosecutor and Courthouse Security Task Force chair.
