Supreme Court Externships

The Washington State Supreme Court offers volunteer judicial externships for law students and law clerks enrolled in the Admission and Practice Rule (APR) 6 Law Clerk Program. Law students who wish to volunteer may seek academic credit through their law school.

Judicial officers intend externships to be educational. Volunteer externs will gain insight into appellate practice and procedure, as well as the internal workings of the Court.

Volunteer externs are selected and supervised by individual judicial officers. Externships may be full or part time. Volunteer externs serve at the pleasure of the judicial officer who selected them, so assignments may vary.

For questions or to inquire about specific opportunities, contact the justice individually or the Commissioner's Office.
