Judge Christine Quinn-Brintnall

Raised in Astoria, Oregon, Judge Christine J. Quinn-Brintnall moved to Pierce County in 1973. She graduated from The Evergreen State College and earned a law degree at the University of Puget Sound (UPS). At UPS she served on Law Review and was named Outstanding Woman Law Student for two years. She later clerked for Judge James A. Anderson at the Court of Appeals, Division One.

Judge Quinn-Brintnall was an experienced trial and appellate attorney before being elected to the Division Two bench. She worked for 15 years at the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office from 1983 through 2000. She served for 12 years representing the County in criminal trials. She was the Chief Criminal Deputy under Prosecuting Attorney William Griffies, and then Senior Criminal Prosecutor under Prosecuting Attorney John Ladenburg. Judge Quinn-Brintnall also served 6 years in the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office civil division, where she worked on municipal incorporations, land use, contracts, bankruptcy, elder care, labor law, and other issues. She argued many cases before the Court of Appeals and the State Supreme Court, including 97 cases that set precedent.

Judge Chris Quinn-Brintnall was elected in November 2000 to the Court of Appeals, and re-elected in 2006 and 2012. From 2004 to 2006, Judge Quinn-Brintnall served as the court's Chief Judge. In April 2012, she was elected by her colleagues as Presiding Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals, representing all three divisions in the state.

Judge Quinn-Brintnall retired from the Court in January 2014 for health reasons. She died on May 19, 2014.
