Judge Gerry L. Alexander

Elected; Elected to Supreme Court

Judge Gerry L. Alexander was born in Aberdeen, raised in Olympia, and attended the University of Washington. Following graduation from the University of Washington in 1958, he entered the United States Army for a three-year stint as a second lieutenant of infantry.

In 1961 he returned to the University of Washington for law school and graduated in 1964. After graduating law school, Judge Alexander returned to Olympia and entered into private practice.

In 1973, he was appointed on the Mason-Thurston County Superior Court where he served for 10 years. In January 1985 he moved from the Superior Court to the Court of Appeals Division Two. Judge Alexander served on the Court of Appeals until he was elected to the Supreme Court in 1994. Justice Alexander then served on the Supreme Court from 1994 until his retirement in 2011.

Justice Alexander currently is of counsel at the firm of Ben Gentry Wheeler Peternell PLLC in Olympia as an arbitrator, mediator, and consultant on appellate court practice.
