Judge Linda Lau

Judge Linda Lau was appointed to the Washington State Court of Appeals, Division One, by Governor Christine Gregoire on November 27, 2007.

Judge Lau grew up working alongside her immigrant parents and siblings in the family’s laundry business and food market in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood. Judge Lau graduated from the University of Washington in 1970 with a degree in Far East and Slavic languages. She then taught English in Taiwan and worked in human relations for about 10 years. She received her law degree from the University of Puget Sound School of Law (now Seattle University).

In 1983, Judge Lau began her legal career as a law clerk and intern for Seattle Public Schools. She began working as a deputy prosecuting attorney in King County in 1984. Judge Lau became a King County District Court judge in 1992 and was appointed to King County Superior Court in 1995. She served on the superior court until 2007. Judge Lau served on the Court of Appeals from 2007 to 2016.

With more than 24 years of judicial service, Judge Lau has now joined the ranks of other prestigious judges as a mediator, arbitrator, and litigation consultant at Judicial Dispute Resolution, LLC.

Judge Lau and her husband, Burns, live in Seattle and enjoy travelling.
