Judge Stanley W. Worswick

DIVISION II, POSITION 2

February 18, 1982–December 31, 1991

Appointed by Governor Spellman; Retired

Judge Worswick was a Puyallup native. After serving in the army at the end of WWII, he graduated from the College of Puget Sound (later University of Puget Sound) for his undergraduate degree, and Harvard Law School. He was an adjunct law professor at the University of Washington. He was a superior court judge from 1969 to 1982. Governor Spellman appointed him to the Court of Appeals in 1982.

While at Division Two, he served with Judge Petrie (who he considered “a real hero”), Judge Reed (“a model wordsmith”), Judge Petrich (“Gentleman Jack”), Judge Morgan (the “Dean Machine”), and Justice Alexander (who was his running buddy, and who introduced him to the concept of “quality b.s.”). Judge Worswick loved being an appellate court judge, and considered his time here as the “best job the law can offer.”

Judge Worswick died in February 2016.
