Judge Tom Bjorgen

Judge Thomas Bjorgen was elected to the Court of Appeals, Division Two, on November 6, 2012. He received his undergraduate degree from Washington State University and his J.D. from the University of Washington. Before serving on the Washington State Court of Appeals, Judge Bjorgen worked as Washington Assistant Attorney General, Counsel to Washington House of Representatives, and Thurston County Senior Deputy Prosecutor. He was also a partner in the law firm Bjorgen, Bauer, Pitman, Bauer from 1999 to 2012.

Judge Bjorgen received the President’s Award from the statewide Prosecutors’ Association. He has served on the following committees:

• Chair, Environmental and Land Use Section of WSBA

• Board member of professional organizations

• Board member, Nisqually Land Trust

• Volunteer at homeless kitchen

• Volunteer lawyer for legal services foundation, Audubon Society and other nonprofits.

Judge Bjorgen retired from the Court in January 2019. He currently lives in Olympia.
