  • CJC Canon 4(A) permits a judge to establish a college scholarship and pay for it out of the judge’s own funds. (Opinion 96-11)
  • Judges may participate in CLE programs if in doing so it does not cast any doubt on the judge’s ability to decide any cases which might come before the judge. The judge may be compensated for participation if it is comparable to what other participants are paid. (Canon 6(A)) (Opinion 91-11)
  • Courts may be the beneficiaries of charitable organizations if the gifts are blinded so that no particular donor can be identified as the source of any gift.
