It is proper for Judge Hughes to write
a book concerning the legal system and advertise the sale of that
book in the state bar publication. (CJC
Canon 4(A))
Marketing of the book should be handled by a third party and any
advertisement must contain enough information to explain that
sales are being handled by a third party.
Judge Hughes should retain a measure of control over the advertising
and ensure that the advertising does not exploit her judicial
position or use the prestige of the office to advance the private
interest of others.
