The Minority and Justice Commission partnered with the Superior Court Judges Association, the Commission on Judicial Conduct, and the KCBA Housing Justice Project to present the CJE webinar titled, End of the Eviction Moratorium: Issues Facing the Judiciary and the Use of Discretion.
Our distinguished panelists discussed the challenges that Superior Court judges will face following the end of the state eviction moratorium, and ways that the use of judicial discretion can be employed to avert the most harmful dispute outcome - eviction. Because of the long history of housing discrimination in this state and nationwide, BIPOC residents are disproportionately at risk of housing insecurity.

The Minority and Justice Commission hosted a listening panel on race and the community. For this panel, the Commission invited leaders from the Black community to share some thoughts on systemic racism, their work, and how courts can help restore confidence in our judicial processes.
This report focuses on the well-being of Black Washingtonians. It is a small, but important, contribution to a much larger, evolving movement to create an equitable and just future for everyone in our state. Produced by The African American Leadership Forum - Seattle, Centerstone, and the Washington State Commission on African American Affairs.
