GENERAL ORDER 2000-1
IN RE APPRECIATION OF JUDGE EDWARD PARKER REED

     WHEREAS, Edward Parker Reed, a distinguished judge of this court from 1975 until his retirement in 1990, who had earned previous recognition as an outstanding attorney and superior court judge in Clark County in the State of Washington, passed away on April 8, 1999; and

     WHEREAS, we, the members of the Court of Appeals, together with its commissioners, clerk, staff attorneys and other employees, desire to give permanent expression of the respect, affection and esteem in which we held Judge Reed;

      NOW, THEREFORE, be it ORDERED:

      THAT this ORDER shall memorialize the commitment to excellence and high standards of judicial craftsmanship that guided Judge Reed; his remarkable devotion both to the legal profession and to his family; the esteem and affection of his many friends and admirers; and the scrupulous application of fairness and justice that characterized his service on the bench;

      THAT the death of our fellow judge has caused an irreplaceable loss to us personally and to the State of Washington;

      THAT we mourn his loss and extend and express our deepest sympathies to all members of his family;

      THAT this ORDER shall be made a part of the permanent records of this Court.
