Judge Charles Horowitz

Appointed by Governor Evans; Resigned and elected to Supreme Court

Judge Charles Horowitz (1905-1989) received both his B.A. and his LL.B. from the University of Washington, in 1925 and 1927, respectively. Later he earned an M.A. in Jurisprudence at Oxford University in 1952.

From 1933 to 1969, Judge Horowitz was in private practice for forty years and he was a partner in Preston, Thorgrimson, Horowitz, Starin & Ellis.

In 1969, Judge Horowitz was appointed to the Washington State Court of Appeals, Division I and served until 1975, when he became a justice of the Washington State Supreme Court. He retired in 1980.
