SYNOPSIS: Leemah Carneh stands charged with four counts of aggravated first degree murder.  He has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. The question before the court is whether Mr. Carneh may refuse to answer potentially incriminating questions during a mental health evaluation by State experts.

SYNOPSIS: A court may commit a nonfelony defendant for mental health treatment and competency restoration upon finding that the defendant is incompetent and has been charged with committing a "violent act."  At issue is whether the defendant's actions, in threatening to strike a bus driver, constituted a "violent act," as that term is defined by statute.

SYNOPSIS: A jury found King Feed & Nutrition liable for negligently burning down the Thompsons’ barn.  Two questions are before the court: (1) whether the trial court properly instructed the jury on the measure of damages for the loss of the barn; and (2) whether King Feed should be sanctioned for failing to admit before trial that it was negligent.
