11. DEFENDANTS SENTENCED

A sentence is counted only for a defendant with a judgment of guilty based on the SCOMIS sentence screen information. A defendant's sentence is recorded in the offense-reporting category that corresponds to the most serious charge resulting in a conviction.

Place an "X" on the SCOMIS sentence screen for each category that pertains to the most serious charge resulting in a conviction on a defendant's sentence.

Each guilty defendant will have his or her sentence counted into one of five categories described below.

11.A. COMMUNITY SUPERVISION/PROBATION

If a defendant is not sentenced to spend time in a state institution, and is not sentenced to spend time in jail, but is placed under community supervision then the sentence is counted in this category.

11.B. JAIL AND COMMUNITY SUPERVISION/PROBATION

If a defendant is not sentenced to spend time in a state institution, but is sentenced to jail and community supervision then the sentence is counted in this category.

11.E. OTHER

If a defendant receives a deferred sentence, a suspended prison sentence, a suspended jail sentence, or any combination of the above in conjunction with probation/community supervision, the sentence is counted in this category. A case without a SCOMIS sentence screen category checked will also be counted in this category.
